A set of unassembled and unpainted plastic fantasy figures in 1:72 scale from the maker Dark Alliance. The package holds 12 riders, half-orcs (crosses between humans and orcs), in 12 different poses, and with them giant wolves, the wargs, in 6 poses. It is a set to be glued together and painted yourself, not a finished model. The wolves and the riders alike have dynamic, attacking poses.
Half-orcs on wolves are the lighter, more agile cavalry of the dark armies in a world of swords and magic in the style of Tolkien and of classic fantasy wargaming. Unlike the heavily armored orcs, the crosses look nimbler and wilder; they suit a vanguard or raiders in battle scenes and in static dioramas alike. The giant wolves stand roughly 20 mm at the shoulder and look like a pack at full gallop.
Carefully cut the figures out of the sprue with a sharp modeling knife, clean up the flash and glue them with a cement for plastic or with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a base layer (a primer) before painting, which unifies the surface and improves the adhesion of the paints. Paint with a brush: acrylic figure paints suit the skin of the half-orcs, the fur of the wolves, leather and metal. Depth is added by a darker glaze (a wash) into the hollows and by accenting the edges of the fur and the gear with a dry brush.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, brushes, a primer and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
