1:35 German Tank OVM without Clamps (3D-Printed) is a printed set of the tools carried on German tanks, without the retaining clamps.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set made by 3D printing for models of German Second World War equipment in 1:35 scale. It contains the tools the vehicles carried fixed to the hull: shovels, hammers, pry bars and other items of equipment. The parts are rendered without the retaining clamps, and that is deliberate. Anybody who wants to fit the clamp separately gets a truer result than with a casting in which the tool and the clamp are a single piece. The set is not a model of a vehicle.
The tools carried on the hull mattered as much to the crew as the armament. A shovel, a pry bar and a hammer were used when getting the vehicle out, when building a field shelter and in routine maintenance of the running gear. The equipment was fixed down with metal clamps, which often appear empty in period photographs because an item had gone missing or had been put to use. That is exactly why the option of fitting the clamps separately is useful to the modeler.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Snip them off close to the part and level the face with a scalpel. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. Paint the wooden handles differently from the metal parts, as the contrast of materials is clearly visible on the hull. Rub the metal heads of the tools with graphite or a metallic pigment.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
