The Dassault Mirage III is a French supersonic fighter with a delta wing and ranks among the most successful European jet types of the second half of the twentieth century. The IIICJ version was delivered to the Israeli Air Force, and it is in its colors that the machine is shown. The delta wing with no horizontal tail surfaces gives the aircraft a silhouette you will recognize even from a distance; it is paid for by a higher landing speed and a longer run needed. In Israeli service the type earned a reputation as an agile fighter.
This is a collector's model in 1:72 scale. At that size a whole collection of machines from one period can be lined up on a single shelf and the differences between versions stay clearly visible. Whether the model is supplied assembled and painted is worth checking on the box, because the workmanship in collector's ranges differs from piece to piece.
A closed display case does the model good: it protects it from dust, which is hard to get off the broken-up surfaces and the area around the cockpit. Avoid direct sunlight, which over a few years shifts the shades of the finish and clouds the transparent parts. Wipe dust away with a soft brush, and for other dirt a lightly dampened cloth is enough; solvents and cleaning products have no place on the finish.
The model will be appreciated by collectors who put together a series of machines by type or by operator. A display case and scenic accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
