About product

EIGER Tool Swamp File - thin file 0.3 mm, 600 grit

An exceptionally thin modeling file from the Japanese maker EIGER Tool, 0.3 millimeters in diameter at 600 grit. It is intended for places an ordinary file cannot reach: narrow seams, engraved lines, the edges of small holes and cleaning up after parts have been separated. The file is held in a holder with an extending mechanism operated by pressing it like a mechanical pencil, so the extended length can be set to suit the work.

What the tool is for

Its main merit is the combination of thinness and stiffness. A file three tenths of a millimeter in diameter gets into a seam that abrasive paper folded over an edge only smears, and yet it does not flex enough to wander off the line. 600 grit is fine, so the tool does not tear material away but smooths the surface, which is exactly what is needed after a part has been separated or filled. The extending holder also protects the file between jobs.

Use

  • Extend only as much length as you need; a long overhang breaks more easily.
  • Work by pulling, not by pressing sideways.
  • Clean clogged grit with a soft brush.
  • Usable on plastic, resin and soft metal.

Who it is for

For modelers who fine-tune detail and need to clean places that ordinary tools cannot reach.

The tool has a thin and brittle working end. Handle it carefully, protect your eyes and keep it out of the reach of children.

FAQ

Narrow seams, engraved lines, the edges of small holes and cleaning up after parts have been separated. Places where abrasive paper folded over an edge only smears the surface.

Extend only as much length as you need and work by pulling, not by pressing sideways. A long overhang is the most vulnerable.

Plastic, resin and soft metal. 600 grit is fine, so it tends to smooth the surface rather than tear material away from it.
