This item is not a model or a kit, and it is not a canopy mask either. It is a special masking set for the exhaust nozzle of the Israeli fighter F-16I Sufa from New Ware, in 1:48 scale, designed for the Great Wall Hobby kit. The masks are cut from flexible masking (kabuki) paper and let you spray the individual parts of the nozzle separately in different metallic and heat-colored shades — instead of using large decals or trying to divide the areas with tape by eye.
A fighter's exhaust nozzle is not one solid metal area. The outer petals, the inner leaves and the rear section each have a different shade and a different degree of heat discoloration — and it is exactly these transitions that make a model believable. But hand-masking a cone with many repeating segments is exceptionally tedious. Pre-cut masks speed up the process and give a consistent result. The set is cut to the nozzle shape as it is molded on the Great Wall Hobby F-16I Sufa kit; the F-16I is the two-seat Israeli version of the Fighting Falcon with attached conformal fuel tanks and an enlarged dorsal spine.
