AK interactive SILVER SPRING 1 mm — a steel coil spring

Silver Spring from AK interactive is a coiled steel spring in silver with a diameter of 1 mm. The manufacturer supplies it in a length of 15 cm, with 2 pieces in the package. It is a modeling material for building, not a kit and not a model — it is the raw material from which you add to a model a detail the kit does not contain.

The regular winding of the wire creates exactly the surface that on a scale model the eye reads as a spring, a hose in a protective coil or a flexible line. It can be painted with ordinary modeling paints — once it has been degreased and given a coat of primer, paint holds on the metal without any trouble.

Use

• Springs — the shock absorbers and suspension of vehicle chassis, the telescopic legs of aircraft landing gear, springs in mechanisms and on diorama machinery.
• Hoses and flexible lines — hydraulic and brake hoses, cables and bundles in a protective coil, fuel lines. A coiled structure looks more believable than smooth wire.
• Shaping: the manufacturer recommends threading a wire through the spring — a guide wire inside lets you bend it into the arc you need and holds the shape without the winding being deformed.
• Gluing: this is metal, so cement for plastic does not hold — use super glue (cyanoacrylate) or two-part epoxy resin.
• It can be cut with side cutters; true the ends with a file so that the joint seats nicely.

For modelers who add extra details to a kit — whether on military vehicles, cars and motorcycles, aircraft or dioramas. Anyone who wants hoses and lines on a model that do not look like an ordinary piece of wire will appreciate it. The 1 mm diameter suits small lines and thin springs; thicker diameters are made for coarser items.

Safety: a metal product with sharp ends and small parts — not suitable for small children. Protect your eyes when cutting and shortening the wire; the ends that fly off can be sharp.
