A set of ATOM acrylic paints from AMMO for the aircraft of the Republican side of the Spanish Civil War. Water-based paints for brush and airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spanish Republican Air Force of the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939 rested largely on equipment supplied from the Soviet Union. It included the Polikarpov I-15 fighter biplane, which earned the nickname Chato in Spain, the monoplane Polikarpov I-16 with the nickname Mosca and the fast bomber Tupolev SB. Machines of French origin and older types of the Spanish Air Force completed them.
Water-based acrylic paints of the ATOM line, selected for this subject. They are thinned with water or an acrylic thinner, they mix with each other and they are applied with a brush as well as with an airbrush. Which shade belongs on a particular machine is settled by the color scheme in the instructions of the kit.
The machines of this period served hard and briefly, so the wear tends to be pronounced: scuffed leading edges, traces of maintenance around the engine, faded upper surfaces. Apply several thin layers, or the texture of the fabric covering disappears. Stir the paint before work and during it, as the pigment settles in the bottle. Try the shade on a piece of plastic, as it looks different over a large area than in the bottle. Bring the surface to a gloss before the decals, as a haze forms under the carrier film on a flat surface.
For the modeler who builds the aircraft of this conflict and wants the shades of one subject together. The package holds the paints only; a model, decals, masks, thinner and brushes are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
