Two ways of applying paint in one package

The marker pen with modeling paint came about because of figures, which are painted over small areas and often in only a few strokes. The pigment sits straight in the tip, so there is no palette, no thinning and no washing of brushes between shades; the tip lays down a continuous layer even on small things like a belt, straps or the slot of a helmet. The third-generation bottled paint goes in the opposite direction: it can be thinned, mixed with other shades and applied with an airbrush over a whole surface.

Inside there are ten marker pens and six bottles of seventeen milliliters each. The markers cover a magenta, a yellow, a deep blue, a fiery red, a white with a shadow, a strong gray, black, a flesh, a leaf green and a wolf blue-gray. The bottles add a white, a smoke black, a snow blue, a muted flesh shade, a gold and a metallic gray.

How the two ranges work together

The usual method runs from the ground up to the highlights: a base is laid in bottled paint with an airbrush or a brush, and the marker is then used to draw in the places where a brush would turn with difficulty. The metallic shades suit weapons, buckles and fittings, and the pair of flesh tones suit faces and hands. The layers can be overlaid on one another, because both ranges rest on a water-thinnable acrylic binder.

Who the set is built for

The range of shades matches the beginning of work on a figure: the basic colors of clothing, skin, greenery and metal are represented without having to buy every tone separately. A more experienced painter will value the markers as a quick tool for laying a ground coat over larger groups of figures.
