Strong Grey - Quick Marker

Strong Grey - Quick Marker (AK interactive)

Quick Marker from AK Interactive is a coloring marker, not a kit. The filling is an acrylic contrast (speed) paint, the same chemistry AK offers in the bottles of the Quick Gen range, only in the form of a marker with a flexible brush tip which works as a brush with its own supply of paint. Strong Grey is a saturated, unambiguous gray, one of the most used colors of all on figures.

How contrast paint works

The paint is semi-translucent and deliberately fluid. Once applied it runs into recesses, seams and engraved lines, where it collects and darkens, while on raised areas it thins out and lightens. That gives you the shade together with shading in a single coat. It is applied over a white or bone primer, because over a dark or black base the paint has nothing to show through and the contrast effect disappears.

Gray is rewarding in this respect: it is reasonably legible even in a thin coat and over a white base it creates a natural transition from light on the edges to dark in the recesses. That is exactly why it suits everywhere you want to bring out shape and volume quickly.

Use

• Vehicles and machinery: panels, armor, covers, piping.
• Armor, helmets, mail shirts and metal parts of figures.
• Stone, paving, statues, rocks and terrain features.
• Gray uniforms and science fiction gear.
• A base under metallic shades and a foundation for further shading.

Who it is for

For wargaming players, figure collectors and modelers who want a legible, shaded surface quickly and without layering. Gray is at the same time the most universal color in the whole range, usable on figures, vehicles and terrain alike. Shake the marker before use and work the tip in off the model. The paint is acrylic and therefore water thinnable; clean the tip with water before it dries. Once dry it can be varnished over.

This is a coloring marker, not a kit. Keep out of the reach of children, work in a ventilated space and protect the tip from rough surfaces.
