Mr. Sculpt Clay is a sculpting putty in a beige finish, and the pack holds 453 g. It serves for sculpting shapes of your own: figures, busts, heads, small diorama accessories and alterations that you will not buy in any set. Beige is a deliberate choice for this work, because on a uniform light surface with no pattern you read the shape from the shadows and see at once where a plane is still not right.
You work from the rough shape toward the detail. First the volume is built up, ideally around a simple armature of wire or kitchen foil, which saves material and gives the work rigidity. Only onto the finished volume do you add muscles, folds of cloth and finally the fine detail. Ordinary sculpting tools suit it, that is metal loop tools, spatulas and silicone shapers; the texture of cloth or a surface pattern can also be pressed into it.
Keep your hands and your tools clean, as dust and small fibers press into the surface and are hard to remove. Look at the work from a distance and in profile as you go, because an error in proportion is easily missed close up. The recommended working and curing procedure varies from one sculpting putty to another, so follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
