Je to kontrastní barva velmi nízké intenzity. Na bílém podkladu steče do prohlubní, kde se nahromadí a ztmavne do jemného stínu, zatímco na vystouplých plochách zůstane světlá. Jedním nánosem tak dostanete bílou plochu i s vlastním stínováním.

Černý stín na bílé ploše vypadá špinavě a zašedle. Bílá se stínuje jemným světlým tónem — přesně to dělá tento odstín.
