The Yakumo Color Set C paint set, put together for the theme of the German units in North Africa. Shades from one line for equipment and figures.
Responsibility details are not available.
Yakumo Color Set C is a set of modeling paints put together for the theme of the Afrikakorps, that is of the German units deployed in North Africa during the Second World War. The shades for one subject are together and come from one line, so they can be mixed with one another and are thinned the same way. Which shades the set contains and how many of them there are is stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
German equipment arrived in Africa in the finish used in Europe and was only repainted into desert tones once it was there. The surroundings then saw to the look of the machines by themselves: the harsh sun bleached the finish, fine sand settled in every seam and wore down the edges, and abrasion on the walking surfaces and around the hatches went all the way to bare metal. For a modeler this theater is interesting precisely because hardly any vehicle looked freshly sprayed.
Stir the contents of the jars well before work and apply the paint in thin coats. With a desert subject it pays to lighten the base coat on the surfaces turned toward the sun, that is on the roofs, on the top of the turret and on the fenders, and to leave a darker tone under the overhangs. Apply dust sparingly and from the bottom upwards, because a coat over the whole model kills the detail and the surface then looks like a dusty shelf rather than a vehicle in the field.
The package holds the paint set. The model, thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
