Yakumo Color Set D is a set of modeling paints designated as basic, that is with no tie to one particular subject. Sets like this are bought as starting equipment for a workshop: they will not cover the complete finish of a given machine, but they serve throughout a build and across themes. The particular shades and their number are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Basic shades are used up on a model differently from themed ones. They rarely cover a large area, but they keep coming back on the small things: rubber parts, wood, metal tools, crew kit, interiors. Their second role is mixing, because it is precisely with basic shades that a themed color is shifted a tone up or down when you need to lighten an area or, on the contrary, darken a recess.
Stir the jars properly before use, otherwise the shade will not be right. Try a mixed tone on a piece of scrap plastic rather than straight on the model; on a real surface the paint looks different from how it looks in a cup. When you mix a shade of your own, note the ratio down, otherwise you will not hit it a second time. Close the jars carefully and store them away from heat and frost, as a dried rim on the neck is the most common reason a jar stops sealing.
The package contains the paint set. The model, thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
