U-STAR Etch Slide Change Parts 20 is a fret of small photo-etched parts for detailing plastic models. It is an accessory to a model, not a stand-alone kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory photo-etched set from the manufacturer U-STAR. The package contains a fret with fine etched elements, which are cut off the frame and glued onto a model; neither the model itself nor glue and paints are included. The elements are universal and are not bound to a particular kit, so the modeler lays them out according to their own intention. They are typically used on robots and sci-fi equipment. The number in the name tells the individual variants of the motifs within the range apart.
Etched sheet is markedly thinner than any plastic part, so edges and small shapes look believable in scale. The elements are a few millimeters in size, which is at the same time the main catch: without tweezers, a sharp blade and a steady hand they cannot be worked. Anyone who wants to try photo-etched parts for the first time will do well to practice the technique on a less visible place on a model.
Degrease the fret and separate a part with the pressure of a scalpel against a hard surface. Make the bends over a metal edge, not between your fingers. Dose cyanoacrylate glue with a pin or a wire, as a drop from the tube is too large for such a small part, and rather let any excess dry and carefully trim it off. Painting is possible only over a base coat applied in a thin layer; sometimes, though, it is more striking to leave a part in a metallic shine and protect it only with clear varnish.
This is an accessory set. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
