The North American F-100 Super Sabre was the first production aircraft of the US Air Force able to exceed the speed of sound in straight and level flight. It was powered by an afterburning turbojet. The F-100C version was conceived as a fighter-bomber: it received a strengthened wing with external pylons and the ability to refuel in flight, which markedly extended its range and load compared with the original fighter version. The aircraft served for many years and is among the characteristic types of its generation.
Accessory sets of this kind come into their own mainly where the base model has simplified detail, that is in the cockpit, in the landing gear bays, on the flaps and around the air intake. Work through the individual subassemblies and test fit the parts dry before you reach for the glue. Glue fine parts with cyanoacrylate applied with a pin, and degrease the surfaces before gluing. It pays to work on a light surface so that the small parts do not get lost, and to shape straight bends over a steel rule or in a bender.
