A set of six oil colors for fantastic and space subjects. A deep purple, orange, cyan and turquoise alongside a carmine and a dirty tone for traces of use.

An oil color stays workable on the surface for long hours. A transition between two tones can therefore be blended long after it has been laid on, subdued and lightened again, without a sharp edge forming under the brush. Painters of fantastic subjects make use of this on faces, on cloaks and on the plated hulls of starships, where the final combination is found only during the work.
The six tubes carry the tones Madder Carmin, Starship Filth, Turquoise Lights, Cyan, Purple and Orange. The purple, the orange and the cyan cover the prominent areas of armor and of glowing elements, the turquoise serves for cold reflections and the dirty tone suits the surroundings of thrusters, hatches and the seams through which grime escapes.
The base is best prepared with acrylic and varnished over, so that the thinner does not attack the coat underneath. The paint is thinned with mineral spirits; a thinner mix runs into the engraved lines and behaves as a filter, a heavier deposit holds on an edge and brings out the raised detail. The surplus is simply wiped away with a clean brush or a cotton swab before the paint sets.
Because the intensity of the tones is high, each of them can be broken with white or with an earth color into dozens of intermediate steps. One tube thus covers more shades than its name suggests, and the palette lasts for a long line of figures and machines.
An oil needs considerably longer than an acrylic to cure completely and the surface stays sensitive even on the second day. The model is therefore left in peace and a matte protective varnish comes last, when nothing moves any more under a finger.
