A set of three sheets of sandpaper in P2000 grit from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. It is a modeling accessory, not a kit. P2000 is a grit from the very fine category – in practice it already removes almost no material, only smoothing the surface and preparing it for polishing or another coat of clear. The paper is intended for wet as well as dry sanding, but the wet route is markedly more pleasant: less dust, the abrasive clogs less and the result is smoother.
A simple rule holds: a lower number means a coarser abrasive, a higher number a finer one. You always work from coarser to finer and no step is skipped – a fine paper will not remove a deeper scratch, it only gives it a shine and it then stands out under the clear coat. P2000 is therefore the very last grade, which you bring in only after the coarser grits.
For modelers who want to take the surface of their kits to perfect smoothness – from car models with a glossy body through aircraft to figures. The paper can be used on metal or wood as well. After work rinse the abrasive and let it dry freely, which markedly extends its life.
Do not inhale the sanding dust – ideally work wet, or otherwise use airway protection and ventilate. The product is a modeling tool, not a kit.
