Flowering Tree

A tree in bloom as the marker of a season

A flowering crown does more for a scene than any other detail of vegetation: it sets it in spring at once. A layout buried in snow and a layout with crowns in bloom are two different places, even though not a meter of track and not a single building has changed in them.

The workmanship

The blossoms and the foliage are applied to the armature one at a time, by hand, so both the shape of the crown and the density of the flowering differ from piece to piece. Four pieces in a package therefore do not look like the same tree four times over, which shows when they are planted in one row.

Dimensions and use

The trees measure from 5.08 cm to 7.62 cm. They suit a garden behind a cottage, a village green, the area in front of a station building or a front garden by the line. In larger scales they serve well as an ornamental bush or a young tree by a wall.

Standing and moving them

The pin at the bottom is pushed into polystyrene, plaster or clay; anyone who does not want to disturb the base fits the disc and leaves the tree standing free. A seasonal change of scene is then a matter of a few minutes and does not destroy the terrain in the process.

Harmony with the surroundings

A crown in bloom is binding. If a tree with fall foliage or a field of harvested straw stands next to it, the scene contradicts itself and the viewer senses it, even without being able to say why. It therefore pays to match the small things too: fresh green grass, muddy tracks left by spring rain, and people in between-season clothing. The flowering tree is then the high point of the picture, not a solitary detail that does not fit the rest.

The shade of the blossoms may vary slightly from one piece to another, because the crowns are finished by hand.
