About product

Fresh Rust — an Abteilung 502 weathering pigment

A finely milled matte pigment from Abteilung 502 in a 20 ml container. A dry pigment powder for weathering, not an opaque paint. The bright orange shade imitates fresh, young rust and newly exposed corroding metal.

Use

  • Fresh orange corrosion marks on scuffed paint
  • Rust streaks running from rivets, bolts and panel edges
  • Newly exposed metal on scrapes and chipped paint
  • Lively rust accents over otherwise older corrosion
  • Applied dry or dampened with thinner for streaks and runs

Who the pigment is for

Suitable for modelers of vehicles and for diorama builders who want to liven up corrosion with bright, fresh accents. Together with brown rust it builds a convincing layering of new and old rust.

A fine pigment powder. Do not inhale it, work in a ventilated space and consider a respirator. Keep out of the reach of children.

FAQ

Fresh Rust is a bright orange fresh rust; the brown shades stand for older, mature corrosion.

Dampen the pigment with thinner and let it run down from rivets and edges; natural rusty streaks are the result.

Yes, layering it with brown rust gives you a realistic transition from fresh to long-standing corrosion.
