Fruit

Fruit on the branches

An orchard, an apple tree behind a farmstead or a bush laden with berries are among the details that give a diorama its season. Without them a crown looks the same whether the scene shows May or September. This material is there for exactly that: it is sprinkled onto a finished crown and makes dots of color in it the size of a fruit.

The package holds two jars, each with a volume of 29.4 cm³. Two jars mean two different color variants of fruit, so an orchard and a fall bush can both be worked into one scene.

How to set the fruit

Restraint gives the best result. A real tree does not have fruit on every centimeter of branch, so the material is applied in small doses with a brush tip dipped in thinned glue, not by sprinkling over the whole area. Anyone who wants fruit under the tree as well lets a few grains fall into the grass; windfall is a detail a viewer immediately connects with the harvest.

The material can be combined with fine flower powder: flowers in spring, fruit in fall, both on the same crown armature.

What the package is not for

This is not a finished tree and not foliage. It is a supplementary raw material that assumes the crown and its mass are already built. The grain is colored throughout, so it keeps its shade even after fixing with thinned varnish.

Restraint applies to color as well. Ripe fruit on a real tree tends to be darker than young fruit and never shines in a pure tone, so it pays to dust the crown lightly once dry with the same color as the foliage. The result then does not look like beads threaded onto the branches.

Unused material stays usable, the jar can be closed again and the excess poured back off the paper.
