Eight ready-mixed washes for figures and fantasy models: sepia, black, light gray, umber, flesh, green, red and blue.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wash is a thin tinted liquid that creeps into the recesses by capillary action and stays there, while a stroke of the brush carries it off the raised areas. On a figure it brings out the folds of a cloak, the fingers of a glove, the outline of the webbing and the joints between the stones of the base in a single step. The eight bottles in this box are pre-thinned to the right consistency, so there is no lengthy mixing of paint with water and no hunting for the ratio that does not run yet but already flows.
Sepia and umber suit brown leather, wood and earthy surfaces, black suits metal and dark fabrics, and light gray suits white areas where black would look dirty. The flesh tone brings faces and hands to life, while the colored versions are used where the shadow has to keep the hue of the base color: green over green, blue over blue cloaks, red over scarlet details.
Apply it over a dry base coat, ideally with a wider soft brush in a single stroke, and take up the surplus with the tip. Once dry, the surface can be lifted with drybrushing. On a very glossy surface the wash beads up, so it pays to flatten the finish first. Do not pour the leftovers back into the bottle, or the whole contents will end up loaded with pigment.
