Gravel - Red Blend by Woodland is a loose scenic gravel with which unpaved tracks, verges and embankments are created on dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
A loose scenic medium for building terrain. The word Gravel in the name places it among the gravels, that is among the coarser materials that stay visible on a scene as individual grains. The designation Blend suggests that it is not a uniform material but a mix.
Gravel is a material of human activity and that is exactly what makes it valuable on a scene. It occurs naturally on unpaved tracks and verges, in yards and handling areas, in backfill around buildings, on embankments, in quarries and in drainage. If you pour it over a whole scene it loses its meaning and the area turns gray. If, on the other hand, you lay it only where someone would have brought it in, the diorama starts telling you where people walked and vehicles drove. A mix of different grains also helps to avoid regularity: the coarser pieces stay in the middle of a track, while the finer ones wash to the edges and into the wheel ruts.
For builders of dioramas, vignettes and scenic bases who want areas with human intervention in their terrain too, not just grass and soil. It combines well with finer soil scatters, which are poured around it and soften the transition.
The material is supplied as a loose medium; glue, paints and tools are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
