A wash intended for model interiors. It runs into grooves and corners and brings out the instruments and the layout of a cockpit or a fighting compartment.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wash is a heavily thinned paint that does not stay on the surface as an even coat but runs down into the recesses and settles there. The model gains the shadow it lacks after the shade alone has been sprayed on: grooves are drawn out, edges separate from the surface and the detail stops merging together. Without it even a carefully built piece looks flat, because in scale the natural shadow is lost.
Interior spaces are densely packed with small parts: instruments, consoles, levers, piping, stiffeners and boxes crowd into a small area and in a single shade they merge into one mass. A wash separates them and gives the space depth. At the same time, an interior takes less than an exterior: the space is small, contrast in it quickly looks overdone, so it pays to add it in layers and to step back regularly and look at the whole.
Stir the contents thoroughly before use, the pigment settles at the bottom during storage. The base should be dry and rather smooth; on a rough surface the wash bleeds sideways and makes stains. Apply it with a brush straight into the groove or into the corner and let it draw further by itself. Then wipe off the excess with a cloth or a brush lightly moistened in the thinner the manufacturer specifies for this range. Try the procedure first on a scrap piece of plastic.
It suits anyone who finishes the interior before closing up the fuselage or the hull, because after that there is no way back inside. The model, paints, brushes and thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
