A round modeling brush from Italeri in size 2. It is a tool for painting models, not a kit, and the package contains the brush alone, no model and no paints. Size 2 is the typical everyday detail brush: it still keeps a sharp point, but it already holds noticeably more paint in the hair than the smallest size.
A round brush has its hair drawn into a point and therefore keeps a tip, so you lay the paint exactly where you aim and it handles narrow places. A flat brush has a straight edge, spreads paint in a broad stroke and is at home on flat continuous surfaces. For detail reach for the round one, for surfaces for the flat one.
Compared with size 1, size 2 holds a larger reserve of paint, so you do not have to reload as often and the coat is smoother, which suits detail that has some area to it (a button, a buckle, a satchel). Compared with size 3 it still has a finer point, so you lose no precision. Choose size 3 only when you begin painting whole smaller parts and facets.
For figure painters and modelers who paint with a brush and need a reliable detail brush for everything small, from equipment to interiors. A good first choice if you are buying only two brushes from the range.
