A flat modeling brush with synthetic hair from Italeri. Size No. 0 is a small brush, one step larger than the tiny No. 00 and No. 000, so it fills the gap between fine detail and smaller areas well. It serves for painting, not for building a model.
A flat brush differs from a round one in its straight, spade-shaped edge. That covers an area evenly and does not streak the way a tapering round brush does, while still managing sharp edges and straight transitions between colors. It is irreplaceable for drybrushing: an almost dry brush wiped on a rag is passed over edges and rivets and the paint clings only to the high points, which is how you pull out detail and wear.
A good brush is worth having: it holds the shape of its edge and does not shed hairs into the paint, while a poor one soon splays and sheds. Wash the brush immediately after the work (acrylic with water, lacquer and enamel with the matching thinner) and never let paint dry at the ferrule, because paint dried at the metal part of the handle will ruin the brush. Once it is clean, shape the edge and let it dry.
It is a modeling tool (a brush), not a paint. Paints and thinner are not included in the package.
