Three junipers 13, 7.6 and 6.4 cm tall. An evergreen conifer that grows on pastures and in gardens by houses.
Responsibility details are not available.
The juniper is one of the undemanding conifers that hold on in dry and poor soils alike. In open country it grows up singly among the grass, on pastures and at the edges of woods, where it forms dark narrow cones; in gardens by houses it is planted as an evergreen feature meant to hold a scene together outside the growing season as well. The needles stay dark the whole year round, so it is told apart from broadleaf trees in every season.
The package holds three pieces: 13 cm, 7.6 cm and 6.4 cm. The difference between the tallest and the lowest is noticeable, so growth of differing ages can be put together from the trio, with an older specimen rising above two younger ones. The trees are finished and colored through.
A dark conifer serves well as a counterweight to pale broadleaf trees and as a screen that closes off the view at the edge of a base. The taller piece suits a corner of the scene, the two lower ones a fence line or a place among stones on a slope. If you are building a winter subject, these trees are rewarding, because they stay green and give the scene color even when the broadleaf trees are bare.
The trio covers the needs of scenes in the sizes HO and N, where the tallest piece stands in for an adult tree by a house. On military dioramas in smaller scales the lower pieces will serve as growth among which a vehicle can be hidden.
Planting in a group has one rule worth keeping: the trunks should not stand in an equilateral triangle or in a straight line. Two trees close together and a third some way off make an arrangement that the eye accepts as growth that came about by chance.
