Flex-i-file polishing sheets for the last stage of surface work. They bring clear canopies back to transparency and prepare a gloss coat for decals.

Sanding does not leave a finished surface. It leaves a flat surface scratched by whatever grit you used last. On an opaque model the base color hides that; on a clear part it does not: a canopy, a windshield or a reflector stays milky after coarse sanding. Polishing sheets remove that trace step by step, right up to full transparency.
The manufacturer states two sheets measuring 100 x 75 mm for this item. You work from the coarsest grit to the finest and wipe the surface between the steps so that grit from the previous stage is not carried over. It pays to polish crosswise: run each further step at right angles to the one before, which is how you tell when the older scratches are really gone.
The uses are wider than you would expect. A polished gloss coat holds decals without silvering, because no air is left under them. Polishing also levels out orange peel after spraying and softens the transition between a repaired spot and the surrounding finish. On chrome-plated parts it restores the shine after a parting line has been sanded away.
This item follows on from the ordinary sanding sheets in the same range. Those level the shape; this set gives the surface smoothness. Using them the other way round makes no sense and only clogs the fine sheets. The two items look very similar, but the difference is in the moment you reach for them: the coarser set deals with shape, this one with appearance. A modeler who builds a whole model from start to finish usually needs both, only each in a different part of the process.
