About product

Liquid Pigments LIGHT GREEN DUST from Green Stuff World

A weathering pigment in liquid form. Against loose pigments it has one practical advantage: it is applied straight from the bottle with a brush, so the powder does not blow about, it doses better and it stays where you put it. The light green dust shade is a light greenish dustiness - the tone that settles on vehicles left standing in damp and greenery, on the lower parts of hulls, on concrete and brickwork near water or in the overgrown corners of a diorama. It is not an opaque paint but an effect material laid over a finished coat.

Use

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before every use - the pigment in suspension settles to the bottom and without stirring you will apply nothing but binder.
  • Apply it to a flat, fully dried coat; on a glossy surface the effect will not take hold and runs off.
  • Work in thin layers and let them dry - the intensity can be built up, while taking it away is harder.
  • Excess can be wiped away with a damp brush or cloth while the layer is still fresh.
  • Place it deliberately into corners, rivets, engraved lines and along panel edges, where dirt settles in reality too.
  • You can seal the result with a matte varnish; reckon on the varnish pulling the effect back a little.

What it combines well with

Light green dust works well paired with brown and ocher earth tones - the green tinge reads as damp and organic deposit, the brown as dried mud. On military vehicles it suits the running gear and the lower hull, on ship models the transition from hull to waterline, and on buildings the foot of the walls and the eaves.

Who it is for

For modelers who already have the model painted and want to move it from a clean toy to a machine that has been used. Thanks to the liquid form it is friendly even to beginners who are still wary of loose pigments.

A modeling material, not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children, work in a well ventilated room and keep it away from food.

FAQ

A liquid pigment is already mixed into a binder, so it is applied with a brush and does not create dust. A loose pigment is picked up dry and the modeler has to fix it themselves. The liquid form doses more easily, while the loose one allows finer grading of the dust.

You do not; the pigment holds once dry. If you handle the model often or display it, a matte fixing varnish is worth it - but reckon on the varnish pulling the effect back a little and darkening it.

To a fully dried flat coat. On gloss varnish the pigment will not take hold and runs off, so spray the model flat before weathering.

Yes, while the layer is fresh you can wipe the excess away with a damp brush or cloth and fine-tune the shape of the deposit.
