A Warpaint series monograph devoted to the two-seat Lockheed T-33A Shooting Star jet trainer. It is a publication, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed T-33A is a two-seat jet trainer derived from the P-80 Shooting Star fighter. The fuselage got an inserted section for a second seat, so the instructor sits behind the student. A single-seat fighter thus became a training machine on which whole generations of jet pilots converted. It was built in large numbers, served in dozens of countries and in many of them stayed in use long after the fighter versions had been retired. Besides the United States, machines of this type were also built under license in Canada and in Japan.
Volume number 88 of the British Warpaint series treats the T-33A as a complete monograph. The author is Adrian M Bach. The volumes of this series combine a text on the development and the operational use of a type with an extensive picture section, which tends to hold period photographs, color side-view profiles and drawings.
The publication suits a modeler who is building the T-33A and looking for reference on color schemes, markings and details of particular machines, as well as a reader interested in postwar jet aviation. The picture section can be used as a guide when deciding which version and which finish to render on a model. Given its long service and the number of users, the type offers an unusually wide range of color schemes, from silver bare-metal surfaces to later gray finishes.
The book is supplied on its own. A kit, decals and other modeling material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The text is published in English.
