Tamiya Mark Fit decal softener in the stronger variant, a bottle with a volume of 40 ml. It softens the film of a decal so that it settles into rivets, pressings and onto rounded surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal is a thin but tough film and on a broken-up surface it behaves as it pleases: it bridges a row of rivets, lifts on a rounded engine cover and wrinkles in a corner. A softener temporarily makes the film pliable, it loses its springiness and as it dries it pulls itself exactly to the shape of the part. The result is a marking that looks sprayed on rather than stuck on. The stronger variant is intended for surfaces where an ordinary product is not enough, that is, for deep pressings, heavily broken-up surfaces and sharp transitions.
First place the decal in the right spot and align it. Only then brush a thin layer of the product onto it. Within a few tens of seconds the film wrinkles and looks ruined, which is the normal course of events, so do not touch it and let it dry. Once it has dried the surface levels out and the element clings to the shape. In complex places the procedure can be repeated once dry.
The product works with the film of a wet decal. Self-adhesive color elements are not treated with it, as neither a softener nor soaking does them any good. Try the strong variant on a leftover decal first, because on some thin sheets it works fast. Close the bottle carefully after use and rinse the brush.
For modelers who put decals onto broken-up surfaces and want to be rid of glossy edges. Decals, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
