Martian Fluor Tufts - FLUOR GRINCH GREEN

Vegetation that does not grow on Earth

Tufts from the Martian range by Green Stuff World are aimed where ordinary green grass would look out of place: on the bases of gaming figures, on alien planets, in fantasy scenes and beside robotic machines. The shade described as fluorescent is deliberately unnatural, so the growth looks like a slice of another world rather than a meadow outside town. On the small area of a base a few tufts are enough for a figure to come away from the bare board and gain a setting.

The color

The name of the shade, Grinch Green, points to a saturated, poisonous green. In a display case and under a spotlight such a tone stands out and draws the eye, so it is worth being sparing with it: a few tufts at the edge of a base do more than a continuous carpet. It works well against a dark, stony or metallic ground, where the green looks like growth pushing through wreckage.

Usage tips

• pick the tufts up with tweezers, not with your fingers, so that the underside does not get clogged
• the ground has to be dry, degreased and free of loose dust
• check the way of fixing on the box; if a tuft does not hold by itself, settle it on a drop of PVA glue
• plant them in irregular clusters; a continuous band of growth gives a model away at first glance
• cover the foot of a tuft with fine scatter so that any trace of glue disappears
• combine a luminous shade with muted surroundings, otherwise it overpowers the whole scene
