A plastic kit of the robot Mazinger Z in a black color variant from the Japanese firm Bandai. The product is supplied without its original box. Bandai builds its models of robots on a system of colored parts joined by snapping together, so the model can be finished even without glue and without painting.
Mazinger Z is one of the key characters of Japanese comic and animated work of the 1970s. It was a large piloted robot controlled from inside by a head module, that is, a motif that introduced into the genre the scheme of a machine steered by a human directly from its structure. The design is characterized by massive shoulders, a prominent chest plate and a broken-up head with a horn; the robot is among the most recognizable silhouettes of the whole genre and appears in the modeling range in many treatments and color variants. The black finish is one of them.
The parts are best nipped from the sprue in two goes: first with a margin, then the remainder of the gate is leveled with a sharp knife. With dark plastic this matters more than elsewhere, because a white mark arises at the nipping point, which is immediately visible on a black surface. For the same reason do not bend dark parts by force while snapping them together, as the stress will show as a light streak. The broken-up shapes of the robot come out once the engraving is accented with a paneliner applied only onto a layer of clear. A final overcoat evens the sheen out and removes the fingerprints that are most conspicuous on dark plastic. Leave the joints without clear coat, so that they do not seize.
The model is supplied unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
