MDF Bases - Oval Pill 100x175 mm (Legion)

MDF Bases - Oval Pill 100x175 mm (Legion)

An oval MDF gaming base measuring 100x175 mm. It is an accessory for tabletop battles, not a display plinth for a cabinet. With a gaming base the size enters the rules directly: it determines how much room a model takes up on the board, where its distances are measured from and where it can still be threaded through.

What a size of 100x175 mm means on the board

The 100x175 mm format is among the largest ovals put under a single model. Such a footprint is carried by large models and vehicles, where a player has to judge in advance whether the model will fit into the gap between terrain, whether it will not block their own unit's line of sight, and how far from a target it will end up. The Legion designation in the name marks out the size range the base belongs to. Whether this format is prescribed for your model as well, always check in the rules of the system you play.

What to keep in mind in play

• An oval base has a front and a flank, so turning the model changes both reach and line of sight.
• In most systems distances are measured from the edge of the base, not from the model.
• A large footprint is harder to thread between terrain, so allow for that when setting up.
• One uniform size across a whole army simplifies agreement with an opponent and checking at a tournament.

Who it is for

For players of tabletop battles who need a format under a large model matching their system, and for collectors who want a whole collection on one type of base. Take the size given as the main criterion of choice, because it is exactly what governs how the model behaves on the table.
