This is a gaming base for a figure, not a display plinth for a cabinet. In tabletop battle games the diameter of a base is a binding figure: movement and reaches are measured from its edge and the spacing of models in a formation is held by its footprint. That is exactly why bases cannot be swapped for one another at will. The abbreviation MDF in the name refers to the fiberboard the piece is cut from, and the designation (Legion) refers to the size standard by which the whole range is graded. A diameter of 150 mm is the largest in this range and is aimed at the very largest models in a collection.
A base 150 mm in diameter carries the largest pieces a player puts on the table: extensive machines, giant monsters and models with a wide spread. With these a large footprint is the only route to stability, because both the weight and the height are markedly above the level of ordinary infantry. The ample area around a model can moreover be used to finish its surroundings, so a dominant piece looks like a scene in its own right on the table. Always check the size against the rules of your game, though, because reaches are measured from the edge of the base.
