Finished trees straight from the box

A finished tree saves the most laborious part of building a landscape. The trunk and crown are assembled and foliaged, so a scene can be planted in a moment and the modeler can turn to the terrain around it. The package holds three pieces in a medium green shade.

Each tree measures 10.1 to 12.7 cm, that is four to five inches. The spread in height is deliberate: three absolutely identical trees side by side look artificial, whereas a group of crowns of differing height looks like natural growth.

Placing it in the scene

The trees have a locating pin for pushing into terrain and a removable base, thanks to which they can also be stood temporarily, without drilling into a board. That comes in handy when trying out a composition, where the arrangement changes several times before it sits right.

Trees make the best impression in clumps, not in a regular grid. It also pays to alternate the shades of foliage, because a real wood has light and dark parts in the canopy according to age and species.

What you get

Inside there are three planted trees. Terrain, turf and glue are not included. The height of individual pieces differs within the range given, which is a property of the product, not a deviation.

Hiding the foot of the trunk in growth proves itself. The transition between tree and terrain is the spot where a model most often gives away that this is an inserted part; a handful of turf or a few tufts around the foot reliably removes that impression.

Three pieces are enough for a smaller group. For a more extensive area it is sensible to reckon with several packages so that the growth does not look sparse.
