Medium green is the most universal tone in the whole range of finished trees. It matches foliage in full season, being neither spring-light nor conifer-dark, and so it sits well beside both of the extreme shades. Anyone building a stand of trees step by step usually starts from this one and adds the rest afterwards.
The pieces measure 12.7 to 15.2 cm and there are two in the package. That is noticeably above the average of the range and matches a mature tree of around eleven to thirteen meters if the scene is built at 1:87. A tree like that no longer works as filler between houses; it takes over the role of the dominant feature around which the rest of the greenery is arranged.
The trees arrive complete, with the crown finished at the factory. They are planted into a scene by the pin that projects from the foot of the trunk, or they can be fitted onto the base supplied and left standing free. Standing them free is exactly what suits trying out a layout, when you are looking for where a tree will screen the view and where it will instead open a view onto the background.
With the taller pieces it pays to check the lean of the trunk and straighten it if need be by bending the pin carefully, because a tilted dominant feature pulls the eye. And the second thing: the density of the crown can be tuned by adding leaf granulate to the thinner spots, only this has to be done a little at a time.
The package holds the trees themselves, not the terrain or any fixing material.
