A metallic acrylic paint by the Spanish brand Green Stuff World from the range prepared for the dry brushing technique. The trade name of the shade is Cursed Gold and the volume according to the name is 30 ml. It is neither a wash nor a pigment: it is a paint that you transfer with an almost dry brush onto the raised places of a model only.
Why metallics and dry brushing work together
A metallic paint has coarser particles than an ordinary pigment, so with a stroke of an almost dry brush it catches exactly on the sharp edges. That is precisely what you need on worn blades, rivets, the forged rims of shields, gilded ornaments or decorated grips. The effect can be built up: the first strokes hint at a sheen, further ones create a more continuous metal rim.
Metallics have a heavier pigment than ordinary paints and it settles to the bottom, so stir the bottle thoroughly before every use. Metallic shades are harder to overspray and to mask, so apply them at the end of painting. They look best on a smooth, even surface; on a grainy base the sheen breaks up. Use an older brush with shorter, stiffer bristles, because the technique wears it quickly.
For modelers of fantasy and historical figures, wargaming players and diorama builders who want to get legible metal detail onto a model quickly without laborious layering.
Keep the paint out of the reach of children, ventilate while working and close the container carefully after use.
