Mint Green is a green listed in the RAL chart under the number 6029. RAL is an industrial standard of color shades, so the number describes a particular tone regardless of the manufacturer and by it you can compare the shade with a chart or top it up at any time. The tone is rich, bright and purely green, with no gray and none of the earthy touch that military greens tend to have. It is closer to the colors of industrial and traffic finishes than to camouflage shades.
Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before use. The pigment settles at the bottom when it stands and paint taken from the top has a different tone and covering power from that at the bottom. Apply it in several thin coats instead of one thick one: a thick coat floods the engraving and pulls back on the edges. Choose the thinner from the same range as the paint; the systems of different manufacturers need not be compatible and the paint may then curdle or go grainy. The ratio of thinning, the drying time and the recommended way of applying it are given by the manufacturer on the label and in the instructions.
Rich green pigments cover less well than grays and earthy tones, especially over a dark base. It therefore pays to spray a light base, on which the paint comes alive and fewer coats of it are enough. A bright green also quickly looks toylike when it stays in one tone across a whole area; feel free to break it up with slight lightening of the areas and a darker tone into nooks. Under gloss varnish and a wash the shade usually darkens slightly, which you should try on an offcut beforehand.
