Eight lacquers of the Orange Line range for the jet aircraft of the Belgian Air Force from the postwar Meteors to the Alpha Jet trainer. Four British BS381C shades and four American ones to the FS standards.
Responsibility details are not available.
Eight lacquers cover the machines that Belgium operated from the postwar years to the end of the Cold War. The older generation is clothed by the quartet of British BS381C standards — they were carried by the Gloster Meteor F.4, F.8 and the night NF.11, the reconnaissance RF-84F, the Hawker Hunter F.6 and the Canadian CF-100 Canuck Mk.5.
The pair for the upper surfaces is made up of Dark Green to BS381C:641 and Dark Sea Grey to BS381C:638. The undersides of the Meteors and the Thunderstreaks are covered by PRU Blue (BS381C:636) in the scheme that was called NATO. The night NF.11 and the Canuck Mk.5 received Medium Sea Grey (BS381C:637), at first on the upper and lower surfaces and later only from below.
The remaining quartet matches the American FS standards and belongs to the younger generation: the F-104G and the two-seat TF-104G, the T-33A trainer, the RF-84F again, then the Mirage 5BA, the single Magister colored this way and the Alpha Jet 1B trainer. The upper surfaces take Dark Tan (FS30219), Medium Green (FS34102) and Extra Dark Green (FS34064), and the underside the light Camouflage Grey (FS36622).
The shades follow on from one another on purpose. One bottle usually serves several types at once, so the contents of the package do for more than one model from the Belgian inventory. The paints are intended mainly for the airbrush and suit larger continuous surfaces, where the covering layer is meant to look smooth.
