Modular System Workshop - Putty Section

The section for putties from the modular Modular System Workshop line of the AMMO of Mig Jimenez brand. The parts of the line are sold separately and stack into an assembly according to what a modeler needs to have within reach on the bench. This one is, according to the name, reserved for putties.

Putty is a consumable and has to be treated as one

Putties are not spoiled by use but by waiting. An open tube laid on its side loses its cap by the first tidy-up, the neck clogs and the remainder in the tube sets into one hard mass. Two-part putties are in a similar position, only they add the risk of moisture getting to the catalyst. A reserved place slows this consumption for two reasons: the tubes stand and get closed, because you have nowhere else to put them down, and above all you can see them, so you find out that you are running low before you reach for an empty tube in the middle of a seam in progress.

How to work with it

• Store the tubes cap up and wipe the neck after every use, otherwise dried residue will block the cap next time.
• Keep two-part putties together, but never swap the caps between the components.
• Keep the section by the abrasives, since filling and sanding is one working step, not two.
• Once the putty has dried, always sand the surface over and spray it with primer, and only then paint.
