The kit captures the mobile suit MS-06S Zaku II, one of the best known characters of the whole Gundam universe. Bandai builds its kits as snap-fit: the parts click together without glue and the sprues are usually color-separated, so you can assemble the model even without painting. The same character is released in several sizes and levels of elaboration; the particular version is stated on the box.
The Zaku II is a mass-produced mobile suit of Zeon, that is, an infantry machine that appears in whole units in the story. The version marked with the letter S is the commander version with higher performance and recognition features, among them the typical shoulder shield and the aerial on the head. It is the commander version that is among the most iconic machines of the whole series and tends to be the most frequently built variant of all.
Remove the parts from the sprues with nippers and clean up the remains of the gates with a scalpel, ideally in two passes: roughly first, then right up against the part. Do not overextend the joints. Three things push the look of the model furthest: picking out the engraved lines with a thin liner, a discreet accent on the edges and evening out the surface with matte or satin varnish. Anyone who is going to paint should start with a primer coat, because paint will not hold on smooth glossy plastic without preparation. Apply any decals included in the box onto a gloss base and set them with a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
