A kit of the Rick Dom mobile suit, the space counterpart of the ground Dom from the original Gundam series. It is made by the Japanese company Bandai as a snap-fit model: the parts are already colored in the plastic and snap together, so you build the model without glue and without painting. Anyone who wants to can still spray it and pick out the panel lines, and the result will be markedly better for it. The range designation is part of the name and determines how demanding the build is.
The MS-09R Rick Dom is the space version of the heavy Dom mobile suit from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. Whereas the ground Dom moved above the surface, the Rick Dom was adapted for combat in weightlessness and uses thrusters instead of hovering. It kept its massive silhouette with a bulky torso and the characteristic head cover, though, which makes it easy to recognize among the Zeon machines.
Separate the parts with nippers a little away from the part and sand the rest of the gate down with a file or a sponge, so that no light mark is left on the colored plastic. Snapped joints hold firmly, but with large parts it is a good idea to check first that the halves have met without a gap. Pick out the engraved lines with a paneliner and wipe off the excess. A unifying matte or semi-gloss varnish will rid the surface of its plastic sheen. For advanced builders the Rick Dom is a rewarding subject for fine edge shading and for light space wear around the thrusters.
The parts are pre-colored in the plastic and snap together. Glue and paints are not needed for the build; tools and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
