According to the name, the package contains 70 conifers in heights of roughly 6 to 10 cm. The trees are bendable, so both the trunk and the branches can be shaped before being set into a scene. That is precisely what sets them apart from rigid castings: every piece can be set up a little differently, and the finished growth therefore does not look like a repeated copy of one tree. The larger number of pieces in the package is intended for continuous areas of woodland, for copses and for the background of a scene.

Use

• Bend every tree individually before setting it in place, so that it has its own shape and a slightly asymmetric crown.
• Drill a hole in the base and glue the tree into it with PVA or cyanoacrylate glue.
• Plant them in irregular groups and vary the heights; regular rows give a model away at first glance.
• If you want to thicken the growth, coat the branches with glue and add foliage or fine scatter.

Tips for a faithful result

A real wood has unequal trees, a denser edge and a thinner interior. Put the taller and better shaped pieces on the edge of a scene, therefore, and the smaller ones the viewer will not notice in the background. Work the foot of each tree into the terrain with small scatter and fallen needles, so that the tree does not look merely stuck into an area. A uniform tone of growth can be broken up with a light overspray of a muted color from a greater distance.
