Three bottles of modeling paint of 17 ml, chosen for one subject: the armored vehicles of NATO armies. A ready-made set saves time, because the shades belong together and you do not have to look for them one at a time across ranges, where they often do not hold tone for tone.
From the 1980s onward most NATO armies in Europe brought the finish of their ground vehicles into a single three-color camouflage of green, brown and black. The large irregular areas with hard transitions are meant to break up the outline of a vehicle and hide it in the European landscape, where woodland, field and shadow alternate. The same pattern appeared on tanks, wheeled carriers and trucks, so the set stays usable across the whole range of vehicles.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Thin it with the product the manufacturer recommends for this range; water or a thinner from another range need not work. The hard edges of a camouflage pattern come easiest with a mask in putty or tape, which you stick on before spraying the next color. Spray in thin coats and clean the tools straight after work, as dried paint is considerably harder to get out of a nozzle. On the large surfaces of a vehicle it pays to lighten the middle of the panels slightly, so that the model does not read as one solid block.
The package holds three bottles of paint of 17 ml. Thinner, masking material, brushes, an airbrush and varnish are not included, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and store the bottles closed and out of reach of children.
