IDF Armor: PUMA Heavy APC, part 3 is an English-language photographic publication from the publisher Desert Eagle Publishing on the heavy engineer armored personnel carrier Puma. It is a reference book, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The book is the nineteenth volume of the IDF Armor reference range from the Israeli publisher Desert Eagle Publishing and follows on from the two previous volumes devoted to the same vehicle. It came out in 2017, in English, in a softcover binding and full-color printing; the extent is around eighty-four pages and the format roughly 215 by 280 millimeters. The author is Michael Mass. The third volume concentrates on the derived versions and purpose-built alterations, of which an unusually large number came about with this type.
The Puma is a heavy engineer armored personnel carrier built on the chassis of the Centurion tank, so a model of this vehicle usually comes about by conversion or with the use of accessory sets. The book is therefore intended for more experienced modelers in 1:35 scale who need to document the shape of the bodies, the placement of the equipment and the color scheme of the individual versions. Without photographic reference it is easy to go wrong with purpose-built alterations, because the individual machines differ from one another in details that no set of instructions captures. Builders of dioramas who want to set a vehicle into a believable scene will appreciate it as well, as will collectors of literature on armored equipment. Because this is the third volume, it complements the older volumes of the same range well and focuses on what was not in them. The package holds no modeling parts and no decals; it is exclusively printed documentation.
