Responsibility details are not available.
The book is the twentieth volume of the IDF Armor reference range from the Israeli publisher Desert Eagle Publishing. It came out in 2017, in English, in a softcover binding and full-color printing, and the extent is roughly eighty-three pages. It was prepared by the authors Michael Mass and Adam O'Brien. The designation Siman 1 corresponds to the first production version of the Merkava tank, that is the Merkava Mk.1. The center of gravity of the book lies in its photographic documentation, which is largely previously unpublished.
The publication is intended for modelers of armored equipment, most often in 1:35 scale, who are building an early version of the Merkava and need to verify the shape of the turret, the placement of the equipment, the structures on the hull and the color scheme. The Merkava has an unusual layout with the engine at the front, so it differs from most other tanks and photographic reference helps in understanding how the individual parts are arranged. Images taken in the field suit faithful work on weathering as well, because they show where dust settles on a real machine, where the paint rubs through and what clogged running gear looks like. The difference between the winter and the summer shots moreover makes it easier to choose the color tone of the base coat. The book holds no modeling parts and no decals; it is printed documentation for a build.
