Paper Leaves Series - Spring 2

Paper foliage for dioramas, spring range 2 (LIANG Model)

Die-cut paper leaves as a scenic material for dioramas and vignettes. It is neither a finished tree nor a kit; you assemble the crown from the leaves yourself on your own armature. Against loose scatter and foam foliage, paper leaves have the real shape of a leaf and a minimal thickness, so they hold up even in a detailed photograph. The designation Spring refers to fresh spring vegetation, the number two is the second variant of this part of the range, and it is used either on its own or in combination with the number one, so that the vegetation is not monotonous.

How the foliage is used

First build and finish the armature, a wire tree, a bush or a climbing plant. Take the leaves with tweezers in small amounts and glue them with thinned PVA glue or with matte varnish, which soaks into the paper. Press the center of a leaf in slightly with a round tool, so that it stops looking flat and catches the light. Work from the ends of the branches toward the trunk and leave gaps in the crown, as a continuous green ball looks artificial, while real trees let the light through.

Work tips

When you tone or repaint the foliage, do it with light passes and pauses for drying, as paper wrinkles when it is flooded with water. Unify the shade with the grass and the ground under the tree and scatter some of the leaves at the foot of the trunk; fallen leaves connect the tree with the ground and the scene stops looking assembled. Store unused leaves in a closed bag, as they are easily blown about.

Who the set is for

• Builders of dioramas, vignettes and scenes with vegetation
• Modelers for whom scatter and static grass are not enough
• Railway modelers and builders of fantasy scenes
• Patient builders, as covering a crown takes time

The armature of the tree, glue and paints are not included in the package. The number and size of the leaves are not stated here.
