Six muted tones together

The package brings together six deliberately unsaturated colors: pastel yellow, pink, violet, peach, green and blue. Each of them rests on a high proportion of white pigment. That is where their main advantage comes from: they cover even over a dark base and, when mixed with each other, do not turn the dirty gray that light tones mixed from ordinary saturated colors commonly become.

Where a light palette works best

It comes into its own wherever full saturation would look hard and toy-like. Fantasy and science fiction figures, period civilian cars, women's dresses, upholstery, furniture for interior scenes or a lightened diorama background. Peach and pink also serve as the brightest step of skin transitions, while blue and green work as an underlayer beneath later highlighting of edges and raised surfaces.

Working with the paint

These are water-thinnable acrylics suitable for a brush and for an airbrush alike. The bottle has to be shaken well before every use, because the white pigment sinks to the bottom faster than the colored component and unmixed paint then comes out darker than it really is. For an airbrush it is thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner, and the ratio has to be adapted to the pressure and the nozzle diameter. The surface should be degreased and primed, because light coats hold considerably worse on bare plastic and are easily torn off along with the base when masking tape is lifted.
