Pentagon Palette from U-STAR is a mixing palette for painting models with a brush. It serves to take off, thin and mix a small amount of paint away from the bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A palette is among the simplest pieces of bench equipment, and yet the one that most affects the result of hand painting. You take paint onto it from the bottle, adjust its consistency and only then touch the model. The name refers to the pentagonal shape of the palette, by which this variant is told apart from the other shapes in the U-STAR range.
Paint in a bottle never has exactly the consistency you need for a particular part. On a palette you can lighten, darken or thin a shade to a state suited to a thin coat, and above all you can wipe the brush on it to the right amount of paint. Without a palette, thinning is done straight in the bottle, which is an irreversible intervention in the whole container, or the work is done with unthinned paint, which leaves prominent brush marks and floods the fine detail.
For anyone who paints with a brush, that is, for figure painters, builders of cockpits and interiors, and for retouching after an airbrush. It also serves well as an addition to a wet palette, when you only need to set a mixed shade aside briefly or to prepare paint for dry brush work.
