About product

Pigment FLUOR TURQUOISE - a bright turquoise pigment

A loose powder pigment from the Spanish brand Green Stuff World. A pigment is a fine colored powder, not a liquid: it does not run into engraved lines like a wash and does not shift the tone of an area like a filter, but settles into the texture of the surface and can be worked dry. The shade belongs to the manufacturer's fluorescent line, marked in the name by the prefix FLUOR. These are richly bright colors of a kind that cannot be mixed from ordinary covering acrylics.

How to work with it

  • Dry: pick it up on a soft flat brush and rub it into the area, then sweep the excess away.
  • Wet: mix it with an acrylic binder or medium and apply it as a thick paint.
  • It comes out best on a light base, as on black the bright shades are markedly subdued.
  • Fixing with varnish or fixative holds the powder down, but at the same time it darkens the shade a little and reduces its brightness.

What it is suited to

Turquoise is the color of energy and cold light. It is used on energy cores, glowing runes and magical effects, plasma weapons, displays and lit vision ports on science fiction figures, the cold light of a lantern or the moon, and on poisonous or mutagenic pools on bases. On an otherwise subdued figure a turquoise accent will keep drawing the eye across a whole gaming table.

Who it is for

For players and painters of figures who want a readable bright focal point in a painted army, and for makers of bases and terrain elements. It is not a weathering pigment for dust and rust.

Do not inhale the fine powder and do not blow it onto the model. Work out of a draft, open the container carefully and wash your hands after the work.

FAQ

It is not. The format is the same, that is a loose powder, but the bright turquoise serves for color and light effects on figures. For patina use earthy and rusty shades.

A dry pigment only lies on the surface, so without fixing it can be rubbed off. A fixative or varnish will hold it down, but reckon with the shade darkening a little and losing some of its brightness.

Yes, mixed with an acrylic binder or medium it works as a thick covering paint. Try the proportion on a test area, because every medium behaves differently.

The name marks the manufacturer's fluorescent line. Details of how it behaves under UV light are stated on the packaging of the pigment.
